The Young Designers Sewing Program, Incorporated, is committed to providing youth opportunities to explore their community as well as other parts of the world, enrich their academic and social skills, examine business skills, and experience positive consequences associated with helping others.
Started in 2009 and incorporated in 2012, the Young Designers Sewing Program is an Athens-based, non-profit organization serving young people in the community, specifically those who live at or below poverty level.
The program is focused on teaching young people in grades 4 through 12, the art of sewing, as well as other skills that will prepare them for the future: social skills, etiquette, workplace readiness, basic business principles and practices, and much more.
The goal of the Young Designers Sewing Program is to not only help prepare members for the future, but to help them see just how much they are capable of and how bright the future that awaits them truly is.
The Young Designers Sewing Program also focuses on giving back. Members complete community service projects throughout the year, helping them to gain a better understanding of the world around them.
As previously stated, we are a nonprofit organization. Our existence is thanks to the generosity of others. We would not be where we are today without such generosity and are forever grateful.
